Summary: An hour-long drama, with notes of dark comedy, exploring the depths of mental health and ambition in the world of a Black millennial woman in fashion. Set in present-day L.A. our lead protagonist is released too soon from an outpatient facility following a suicide attempt when her insurance refuses to cover the cost of her treatment. She’s forced to re-enter the real world, including dealing with an overbearing helicopter mom who at one point hides her car keys to keep our lead stuck at home, a toxic work environment where a co-worker is angling to steal her job, and unrequited love stemming from a past hurt when her father abandoned her. Deep down she just wants to be good enough. But a what point does she start to succumb to the pressures around her, and lose her sake of humanity to finally feel happy.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – “Take a Stand” (T.V. Spec)

Logline: Midge gets new neighbors in her building. They’re black, bourgeois, and lack any knowledge of Jewish culture. When she invites them to one of their acts and they’re not allowed inside, she has to decide in the moment what she truly stands for.

Summary: Midge is ecstatic when she finds out that a new family has moved into her building. She goes to meet her new neighbors and discovers their black, bourgeois, and nothing that she thought in all the best ways. She quickly becomes fast friends and even extends the invitation for them to attend one of her comedy sets at a distinguished country club. It’s a charity event that her manager, Susie, recently booked. The night of the show, however, the country club venue refuses entrance to Midge’s plus ones. Baffled and searching for questions, she finds out it’s because they’re black. Upset, she flies into a blistering stand-up telling off the establishment before leaving, making the decision that no charity is worth the denigration of others because of their race.
